Who are the Mayas and why are they so important in Mexico? The Mayan culture was one of the main civilizations of ancient Mesoamerica. This Mayan culture inhabited several sites such as: Yucatan Peninsula, Guatemala and Honduras.

The Mayas were characterized by their different skills, they had a writing system, they knew mathematics and astrology, and they had an incredible ability in art and architecture.

Thanks to the Mayans and their famous calendar, 2012 was believed to be the end of the world. When this did not happen, several theories came out about the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. The Mayas have many mysterious facts.

Places you must visit to connect with Mayan culture

Chuhunhub Community

In this community you can do a very special activity, recharge your energy in a mystical bonfire under the Ya’ax ché. Here you can listen to ancient stories and enjoy a sacred drink that only the gods could make.

Don’t miss the opportunity to get to know this mystical place and live a Mayan cultural experience.

Cenote_Yokdzonot

Yokdzonot Cenote

Without a doubt, if you want to learn more about the Maya you must visit the cenotes. For the Maya, cenotes were the main water supply, and they were also spaces to perform rituals to rain, life, death, rebirth and fertility.

The most special thing about this cenote is that it is not as well known as the others, so you can enjoy it much more, dive into its fresh waters and enjoy its turquoise color.
