Day 1 | Welcome to Mérida!
Upon arriving at your accommodation, take a short rest and enjoy free time in Mérida. The main areas of interest for visitors are the Centro Histórico and Paseo Montejo. Here, you will find the traditional barrios (neighborhoods) and markets, grandiose homes, several museums, and historical monuments, which are ideal for exploring in the morning and afternoon.
Day 2 | Explore the flavours of Mérida
Today, you will join a group of travellers to explore the charming streets of Mérida, Yucatán, on a tour of approximately 3 hours. At the meeting point, you will meet your guide. During this experience, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the delicious Yucatecan gastronomy, a unique blend of European and Mexican flavours. You will enjoy regional dishes, fresh seasonal fruits, juices, tamales and much more in the main market of the city. In addition, you will visit a seafood restaurant and an ice cream parlour to complete this culinary experience. Please note that this tour is not available on Sundays.
Day 3 | Explore the Celestún Biosphere Reserve
Your adventure begins accompanied by a group of travelers in an eco-tourist paradise, which is part of the world heritage of the Special Biosphere Reserve, officially declared a wildlife refuge since 1979. A boat trip awaits you at the mouth of the Esperanza River in the Gulf of Mexico, where you will appreciate a unique natural ecosystem. Here, you will find migratory ducks from Canada, fish, pelicans, the pink or Caribbean flamingo, among 234 other mammal species. Afterwards, you will visit the "ojo de agua" where you can swim through natural tunnels formed by branches. To end your trip, you will enjoy a delicious meal with a beautiful view of the beach.
Day 4 | Taste of Honey & Coconut: Sinanché & San Cristanto
You will travel to Sinanché to learn about beekeeping in Yucatán and the different species of bees found in the region, as well as their honey production process. You will interact with the bees wearing a beekeeper's suit and participate in a workshop to create a handmade candle based on honey products. Afterwards, you will visit San Crisanto, a coastal community with a unique tropical landscape ideal for exploring. You will board a boat that will take you through the mangrove swamp to an Ojo de Agua (freshwater spring). During this beautiful experience, you will appreciate the diversity and richness of the local flora and fauna, which are essential to preserve the coasts from erosion. Then, you will have lunch at a local restaurant. To finish the tour, relax at Sac-Há, an oceanfront beach area surrounded by coconut trees and white sand.
Day 5 | Transfer from Hotel to Mérida International Airport
A private driver will take you from your accommodation to the airport.
