Day 1 | Welcome to Oaxaca!
Explore the cultural, historical, and gastronomic richness of Oaxaca with a local guide, visiting the La Merced market, where you will taste a traditional baked empanada. Then, stroll through the streets to the Jalatlaco neighborhood until you reach the Santo Domingo temple.
Day 2 | Oaxacan Markets: A Culinary Journey through Colors and Flavors
Just as the poet Pablo Neruda said, "Mexico is in its markets..." You will discover the flavors of the supply market by meeting Doña Vale, who prepares delicious memelas. Then, you will visit La Merced market to savor grasshopper tortillas, and finally, you will head to the Trinidad de las Huertas neighborhood to try vinegar-soaked bread. Afterwards, take a stroll that will lead you to the Reforma neighborhood, where you can taste their tacos. An incredible culinary experience!
Day 3 | Valle de Tlacolula
Visit embroidery workshops carried out by the women of the Tlapazola community, and then head to the "Las mujeres del barro rojo" workshop. There, observe and participate in the clay-making process, as well as machine embroidery workshops for aprons and the weaving of wool rugs and silk from Teotitlán del Valle.
Day 4 | Monte Albán and the alebrijes workshop
Tour the Zapotec city of Monte Albán, situated on a hill where you can observe the entire Oaxaca Valley. Afterward, enjoy a workshop on crafting alebrijes at the artisan Don Mario Jiménez's house in the community of Arrazola. Create and paint your alebrije according to your taste.
Day 5 | Rural cooking workshop in Oaxaca
Visit a Zapotec community where you will meet the "comideras" at the market. These women specialize in preparing feasts for festivities. Learn how to shop for ingredients and then cook them in one of the cooks' houses.
Day 6 | Departure
Enjoy a free morning to stroll through the streets of Oaxaca and have breakfast at its market. You can also visit the Benito Juárez market, where you'll find crafts and products to take home as souvenirs.
