Day 1 | Arrive to Mexico City and discover the flavors and colors of the exotic San Juan Market
Immerse yourself in the heart of the historic center and uncover the gastronomic roots of the Aztec capital with a private visit to the San Juan Market. Renowned chefs and local buyers flock to this famous market in search of the finest products, meats, and specialties, ranging from fruits and vegetables to exotic meats.
Day 2 | Visit to the National Museum of Anthropology
First, you will visit the Museum of Anthropology, one of the most important museums in Latin America and the world. Built in the 1960s by architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, it features 22 rooms designed to preserve Mexico's rich indigenous heritage. Explore the museum's main collections while learning about the history of pre-Hispanic cultures and admiring some of the most significant pieces of pre-Columbian Mexico, such as the Aztec Calendar, the Olmec Colossal Head, and the famous Mask of Pakal. Your second stop of the day will be the majestic Chapultepec Castle, surrounded by the forest of the same name, one of the largest green areas in Mexico City.
Day 3 | Biking in Teotihuacán “The City of the Gods”
You will visit one of the most impressive archaeological sites in Mexico and get to know it in a unique way. Upon arrival at the site, you will receive a bike to tour the Valley of Teotihuacán surrounding the archaeological site, passing through the Route of the Murals. Finally, your private driver will take you to Puebla, located approximately two hours away. Once you arrive at your hotel, take the rest of the day to rest and relax after your adventure.
Day 4 | Between markets and corn in the magical town of Cholula
Your local guide will pick you up for a tour of approximately 5 hours through the streets of Cholula, where you will learn more about corn, a pre-Hispanic ingredient that is the basis of Mexican gastronomy. First, you will visit a local market to see the great variety of products and foods on offer. From there, you will walk through picturesque streets leading to the famous church, Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, built on top of the Great Pyramid of Cholula, which holds the title of being the widest pyramid ever built.
Day 5 | Walk in a Cactus Forest: Tehuacán-Cuicuitlán Biosphere Reserve
Meet your local guide-driver for the 2.5-hour transfer from Puebla to the Tehuacán-Cuicatlán Reserve, a protected natural area where biological, cultural, and historical richness converge. This place is ideal for wandering through forests of columnar cacti, which are endemic to the area. Afterward, continue your journey from the land of the cactus to Oaxaca, a city renowned for its vibrant food and drink scene. It's another 2.5-hour drive through some of Mexico's most stunning landscapes.
Day 6 | Oaxaca's hidden gems: Discover Mitla, Hierve el Agua, Teotitlán & Mezcal!
The tour will start 10 km from the City of Oaxaca after a 20-minute transfer. Your first stop will be in Santa María del Tule to see the ancient Tree of Tule, a two-thousand-year-old Montezuma cypress known for having the strongest trunk in the world. From there, you will travel approximately 1.5 hours to Hierve el Agua Park, unique for its rock formations resembling cascades. Afterwards, you will descend to the Mitla Archaeological Zone to appreciate and learn about the geometries in the decorative walls. Following a 30-minute break, you will head to Teotitlán del Valle, where you will visit the House of Wool Weavers to learn about spinning, weaving, and dyeing wool.
Day 7 | Free time in Oaxaca and Goodbye Oaxaca
Lastly you will enjoy a 5-hour tour of Oaxaca City to explore its cultural, historical, and gastronomic richness with a local guide. You will start with a visit to the Mercado de la Merced, where you can try a traditional empanada baked in the oven. Then, you'll walk through the colorful streets of the Jalatlaco neighborhood until you reach the 16th-century Aqueduct, where you can enjoy delicious tacos on García Vigil street. Finally, our driver will pick you up from your accommodation and take you to Oaxaca International Airport so you can catch a flight towards your next adventure!
