Day 1 | Welcome to Mexico City!
Upon your arrival, you'll have time to explore the Mexican capital at your leisure. Discover the central museums and take a stroll through the Chapultepec Forest. Kickstart your adventure by browsing local markets or indulging in some authentic tacos at a taqueria! In the afternoon, you can also enjoy an actual tacos tour in Narvarte.
Day 2 | Explore the historic Mexico City
Embark on a tour of the Historic Center of Mexico City, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where you'll marvel at landmarks such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, the ruins of the ancient Aztec city, the Palace of Fine Arts, and the Postal Palace. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the National Museum of Anthropology as it stands as a beacon of cultural heritage, showcasing the rich tapestry of Mexico's indigenous civilizations. As one of the world's foremost anthropology museums, it offers a captivating journey through millennia of history, from the ancient civilizations of the Maya, Aztec, and Olmec to the diverse indigenous cultures of modern Mexico!
Day 3 | Discovering Xochimilco's Chinampas and Casa Azul
Explore the enchanting canals of Xochimilco getting to know the traditional "chinampa", immersing yourself in a unique landscape teeming with diverse flora and fauna. Then, delight in a visit to the Blue House, renowned as Frida Kahlo's residence, where you'll uncover glimpses of the iconic artist's life through her photographs and paintings.
Day 4 | Biking in Teotihuacán "The City of the Gods"
Experience the awe-inspiring Teotihuacán, renowned as the "City of the Gods," one of the most impressive archaeological sites. Embark on a bicycle tour to traverse the valley and follow the mural route, immersing yourself in its rich history. Enjoy every moment of this exhilarating adventure!
Day 5 | Exploring Cholula's Charms and Corn Cuisine
You will stroll through the emblematic streets of Cholula, which will lead you to the Church of Our “Señora de los Remedios”, built atop a pyramid. From there, you can enjoy an incredible view of the volcanoes in the Valley of Mexico. You'll also have the opportunity to savor their cuisine by visiting a restaurant where corn is the secret ingredient in their recipes.
Day 6 | Welcome to Oaxaca!
Today you'll be transferred to Oaxaca, a state recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Site. Immerse yourself in its colonial-style charm as you explore its vibrant markets, exquisite crafts, intricate textiles, renowned mezcal and indulge in the iconic tlayudas topped with tasajo (thinly sliced beef).
Day 7 | Create Your Own Lithograph in Oaxaca
Today, your local guide will meet you at the designated spot to embark on a four-hour tour where you will create your very first lithograph, an art of printing images onto paper or other materials. Starting with an introduction to the twenty-year-old TALLER BAMBÚ art studio, you will learn the process from start to finish with the help of skilled artists. You will draw directly onto a stone using lithographic crayons or paintbrushes, either creating your own design or contributing to a group piece. The studio's printmaker will etch the stone with solutions and your chosen colors, then the lithographic press will imprint your design onto cotton paper. Each participant will leave with their own print and new artistic skills.
Day 8 | A tour through Teotitlán del Valle and its handicrafts in Oaxaca
Explore Teotitlán del Valle, famously dubbed the "Land of the Gods," engaging with skilled artisans renowned for their expertise in crafting textiles with natural dyes and producing candles. Plus, savor a uniquely prepared dish tailored just for you, adding a delicious touch to your experience.
Day 9 | Rural cooking workshop in Oaxaca
Journey to Teotitlán del Valle, a vibrant Zapotec community, where you'll encounter the "comideras," revered women celebrated for their culinary expertise, often cooking for community festivities. Immerse yourself in the local culinary culture as you learn about indigenous ingredients and then join in the preparation of a dish in one of the traditional kitchens.
Day 10 | Transfer from Oaxaca to Oaxaca International Airport (OAX)
A driver will pick you up to take you to Oaxaca International Airport.
