Rutopia

Frequently Asked Questions

To book you need to tell us what destination you are interested in, how many days and nights you would like to stay, for how many people is the trip and if you would like some extra service such as airport transportation and rental of a tent. You can send us this information by mail to rutopia.org@gmail.com or in the green questionnaire within the page of each destination.

To add a new destination to the Rutopia’s network we carry out a rigorous activation process. Both the hosts and the destination must meet all our selection criteria. Also, the hosts must provide all their data and pass a background check. Finally, we visit each destination and each host before uploading any experience to the platform. We carry out a pilot trip to validate that both the trip and the area are safe and that all the information provided by the local hosts is true.

When you buy a trip with Rutopía you receive a Travel Guide with everything you need to know to arrive safely to your destination: the exact location of the community you are going to, your itinerary, the photo and contact details of your hosts, tips on which transport routes to use and the estimated prices for souvenirs and extra expenses. In addition to that our contact lines are always open, we provide assistance and remote support to all our travelers.

The price of the trips is determined by the community that offers it plus a small commission with which Rutopia keeps its expenses. The price
per person generally varies according to the size of the group.

We kindly ask for booking to be made at least with one week notice, although we recommend to start planning your trip three weeks before. In case you want to make a last minute trip don't doubt on contacting us anyways.

The trips are private. You choosethe dates, for how many people you want and the activities that you would most like to do and we do everything to get you easily with your local hosts.hacemos todo para que llegues fácilmente con tus anfitriones locales.

Communities within our network are located away from big cities, that's why we recommend to bring small bills in cash and only national currency.

All the communities are apt to take small. The idea is to make traveling to indigenous communities in Mexico easy and safe. We ask you to specify the number and age of the children when making your reservation so that your hosts are fully prepared.

As more travelers share an experience it is more economical. That is why traveling alone or as a couple can become more expensive. If you want to travel with an external group, write us and we will help you organize a trip

Rutopia does not offer transportation to destinations. However, many communities offer internal transport services or sometimes even between cities (this information can be found in the information of each destination), on the other hand we always seek to provide information on how to get there in private and public transport.

We are continuously growing our network of communities, leave us your data and you will be the first person to know when we have a new community in the network. If you know a destination that we do not have yet in the network, you can recommend it here

Yes, in Rutopia we organize trips for institutions. Write us at rutopia.org@gmail.com and we will gladly take the perfect trip for the group you prefer.

You don't need to spend any more money, once you meet with your host everything in your experiences is fully covered. We do recommend to bring some cash to buy snacks, gifts or local hand-crafts.

We believe that the immersive experience can be enjoyed by anyone who travels looking for a connection. Also if you feel the need of a english speaking guide Rutopía would make sure you have it.
